ABOUT RHETT MORITA




Rhett Morita is a third generation Japanese-Canadian and a second generation Director of Photography.  He began shooting super-8 movies at about twelve years old and seemed to have a natural ability with the camera.

Working professionally since 1987, he has shot award-winning films and videos with the likes of Brad Pitt, Celine Dion, Lyndsay Lohan and Juliette Lewis. In a break between projects in the spring of 2003 he decided to write/direct and produce a short film: LIFE AFTER is his short film directorial debut. This film won the best fantasy short award at the New York Independent Film Festival. He has since written and directed nine short film/videos, including "2012: The Revelations".

He produced the multiple award winning 24 hour Toronto Film Challenge short “PLASTIC LOVE” , and produced/directed two spoken word videos for Evalyn Parry.  He has directed, shot and edited four music videos for Cat Forsley , one for Andrea Ramolo and directed and shot "Rely On Simple"  for Nann Rancourt,  and recently produced/directed two commercials and four short promo videos for Bidwhack, a new start-up company.   He is currently shooting portraits for an upcoming book.

He has also taught courses at the National Screen Institute in Winnipeg for Drama prize winners.
